New General Manager at Granite Le Pelley in Jersey

Pascal Maurice has been appointed to the position of General Manager of local stone masonry company, Granite Le Pelley.

Mr Maurice was appointed by Granite Le Pelley, following four successful years in senior positions at sister construction company, Camerons.

Phil LeRoy, Managing Director, said: ‘We are delighted that Pascal will be leading the Granite Le Pelley team.  He has extensive experience and coupled with a degree in Civil Works and Structural Engineering from the prestigious Ecole Nationale d’Ingenieur de Saint Etienne de Genie Civil, E.N.I.S. E, brings with him the ability to lead the company into what is becoming an exciting period of construction in Jersey.’

Granite Le Pelley is one of only a handful of stone masonry companies in Jersey and offers local construction organisations the ability to out source intricate and challenging stonework. The art of stone masonry has been crucial in the finish of all traditional buildings throughout history and today this skill is just as important, which many clients embrace on contemporary builds.  Mr Maurice will be responsible for a team of skilled stonemasons who have worked on such high profile projects including, 44 Esplanade 11-15 Seaton Place, 1-3 Seal St, 40 Esplanade, 1-2 Vine St, 50 Colomberie, Pomme d’Or and Grand Hotels.

Mr Maurice began his career after graduation with French constructor, Spie Batignolles Ouest, and quickly progressed to the position of Contracts Director before working on his first project in Jersey with partner firm, Camerons, in 2001.  The project, the distinctive flats at Albert Pier, saw him assume responsibility for the civil works programme and all concrete works on site – the first project of many for which he would be responsible for the façade and external works.  Mr Maurice returned to France before securing the position of Contracts Manager with Camerons in 2006.

‘I am delighted about my new role – it affords me the opportunity to work with a highly skilled group of stonemasons for whom I have a great admiration and to have oversight of some fantastic projects.  Call me biased, but I feel having responsibility for the external works of any building is fabulous as it gives me and my team the chance to really put the finishing touches to a great project,’ said Mr Maurice.

‘I decided that this role was for me as the company is relatively young, having started up in 2008.  Although we can draw upon the 28 years of experience which our Guernsey sister company boasts and its 12 years of Jersey experience, we face the same challenges as any relatively new start up in challenging economic times.  We have a sound base to work from and I am excited at the prospect of building up the business to become Jersey’s most successful stone masonry company.’ he concluded.

Granite Le Pelley is currently working closely with Jersey quarry, La Saline, on the Arches, new façade, copings and restoration work at the old abattoir  project which requires a very high standard of stone and finish.  Previously the team have worked on 44 Esplanade, 11-15 Seaton Place, 1-3 Seale Street and 40 Esplanade and supplied the stone for Weighbridge Square.  Granite Le Pelley has relationships with and works with quarries and factories around the world including, France, UK, China, Germany, Italy, Turkey and Spain, in order to source and produce the highest quality stones for clients.

Mr Maurice moved to Jersey and enjoys cycling around Jersey’s beautiful country lanes and coastline.  Mr Maurice speaks four languages, is a football fan (supporting Toulouse Football Club) and Rugby fan (Stade Toulousain) and enjoys travelling.
