National recognition for a Garenne Group Company

Camerons Ltd, part of the Garenne Group, has been recognised at the Considerate Constructors Scheme 2010 National Site Awards for their work on Jersey’s Energy from Waste Facility.

Camerons, in association with partner firm Spie Batignolles, is the first Channel Islands company to be given a Considerate Constructor Award.

The Garenne Group’s Chief Executive Officer, Andy Hall singled out the project team’s excellent communication strategy, helpful approach and commitment to demonstrating the highest standards of considerate construction. He added that the award was a fantastic accolade for the Garenne Group and demonstrated the group’s approach to undertaking work in the Channel Islands.

Working on such a significant project has provided a unique challenge for the team in terms of the unusual type of build in addition to the high levels of public interest.  To be the first company in the Channel Islands to be awarded such an accolade is very special for the whole organisation and for our client, Jersey Transport & Technical Services Departmen

Applications to the Considerate Constructor National Site Awards are assessed against an eight point criteria and must score highly in each to be recognised – considerate, environment, cleanliness, good neighbour, respectful, safe, responsible and accountable – all of which are very different measures to those usually applied to traditional construction awards schemes.  The project scored highly on all eight sections, scoring at least 4.5 out of 5 against each criteria. 

Construction companies of all types and sizes were represented at the awards, which was attend by 2,500 guests, with only 580 sites recognised out of a total of 7,600 eligible projects.
